Brittan Proposal
Proposed by former British Commissioner Sir Leon Brittan, this was a comprehensive free trade agreement that would have eliminated EU-US trade tariffs by the year 2010. Agricultural and audio-visual trade were not included in the proposal but France still rejected it, believing that the US would insist upon the inclusion of these items.
